Seminar at Incheon National University 2016

From March to June 2016, on Wednesday afternoon, this course organizes presentations with various representatives of the EU established in Korea. The purpose is to gather various expatriates to discover the potential of European companies and institutions, their presence here in Korea, and the good and bad of being a European in Korea.

Furthermore, our students are interested to learn what requirements and skills are needed by European companies to get an internship or a job.

Thus during three month, guided by motivated students, different companies and institutions are invited to visit us and briefly introduce themselves, respond to the students questions, and have an enjoyable experience presenting their homeland and their objectives in Asia.
The atmosphere of these presentations is meant to be very pleasant for all of us, and to celebrate the participation of our guests properly they are invited to enjoy a dinner afterwards at the University restaurant.

Our students are studying German or French and European Trade. English skills are required. Most of them are in the 3rd or 4th academic year. Also our international exchange students can participate in this class.

Korea Illies Engineering Co.

On April 20th Mr. Steffen Trabert, CEO of Korea Illies Co., visited us and presented his company.

Illies Engineering Company is a world-wide operating company with over 150 years history. Established by German merchants in Japan in 1859, Illies has traditionally focused on Asia and has many branches (including Hamburg, Germany) all over the world like in China, India, Vietnam etc. The Korean Branch was founded on 1957.

Illies Co. is acting as a bridge between machine-producer (in Europe) and customer (in Korea and other Asian countries), and this mediator's act is significant. That's why we can call Illies a "Hidden Champion".
In Europe are many small and middle-sized machine producers who are not able to handle on the Asian market. So Illies Co. works for both sides, producer and customer, with
- Financing
- Insurance
- Transport
- Installations and Support
- Training of personal
- Warranty and maintenance services
- Supply of spare parts

Although Illies is middle-size company, Mr Trabert emphasized the importance of these companies in the industrial society.
Illies Korea also has a internship program!

LSG Sky Chefs

On April 27th we went to Incheon International Airport and visited the company "LSG Sky Chefs". Mr. Gareth Lycett, the CEO, introduced his company and then we made tour through the facilities.

It was the first experience that we went to an airline foods company. So I was quite excited to go there. There were so many rooms which are for different types of airline food for people from many different nations. I was quite impressed by the Halal room which is for Muslim people. He explained, normally they should not eat pork, and they praying to their god before they cook. We also looked at a dessert room, special dishes for business class, and an airlines products warehouse. It was fascinating seeing all processes related to airline foods. Mr. Gareth Lycett, the CEO of LSG Sky Chefs, presentation was also interested. I think he already know about Korean company culture and how is working in Korea. He said if we want to get abroad job, we need to understand their culture and try to adapt their life. Actually it’s obvious and I also knew that it was very difficult. Anyway it was good opportunity to go there.
They showed a presentation about LSG Sky Chefs. I could know about specific parts of the company through their presentation. The most interesting thing is how they made airline foods and their distribution process of the whole system. I was especially impressed by their different services for business and economy class.
